Cactus Leather Introduced In 2019
After two years of research and work, Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez developed a leather product created from cactus under the business name Desserto. The fabric was first showcased on October 2019 in Milan, Italy, and garnished praise for its softness, breathability, and performance for a variety of applications. The vegan product aimed to offer a cruelty free and sustainable alternative, without the use of chemicals like phythalates and PVC.
